What does this fault code mean?
The ECM has its own monitoring of the processor, and the code is set when it detects faults in the internal voltage references. The code can also be set when the module has wrongly requested a fuel cut-off. The car may feel weak and the warning lamp comes on.
Possible causes
- Damaged ECM
- Poorly charged battery or corroded connection cables
- Damaged software in the ECM
What you can do
- 1Read the code and note whether it is active right now
- 2Check the battery charge and that the battery terminals and earth connections are tight and clean
- 3Check that the connectors at the ECM are tight and free from corrosion
- 4If the fault comes back, have a workshop replace the engine control module

- Malfunction indicator lamp comes on
- Malfunction indicator lamp (check engine) comes on or behaves abnormally
- Warning symbol and message in the display
- The car feels weak and lacks power
