What does this fault code mean?
The ECM receives information from the brake control module (BCM) over the CAN network. The BCM can request reduced engine torque for a function in the system, and the code is set when such a request arrives at too low an engine speed. The code can only be detected while the stability system is active.
Possible causes
- Fault on the CAN network
- Fault in the brake control module (BCM), where the cause should be looked for
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car with the stability system active to see whether it comes back
- 2Check the battery charge and that the battery terminals and earth connections are tight and clean
- 3Check that the connectors at the brake control module are tight and free from corrosion
- 4The brake control module (BCM) is part of the braking system, so have a workshop check it and the CAN network if the fault comes back
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
