What does this fault code mean?
The ECM drives the injectors through its own output stages and monitors the signal during injection. The code is set when the module finds a wrong signal in the injector circuit with the engine running. The code does not state a more specific fault type.
Possible causes
- Loose contact, or contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
- Signal wire shorted to earth or voltage
- Injector return line damaged or blocked
- Injector sticking or jammed
- Damaged injector
- Damaged ECM
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the connectors at the injectors and the ECM are tight and free from corrosion
- 3If you have a multimeter: check that the injector wiring is not shorted to earth or voltage
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the injectors one at a time and see whether any of them does not respond
- 5If the fault comes back, have a workshop check the return line and replace the injectors or the module as needed
