What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks the signal to the starter relay coil, and the code is set when the signal is too high with the ignition on. The signal wire may be shorted to voltage, or the starter relay may be damaged.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged starter relay
What you can do
- 1Read the code with the ignition on and note whether it is active right now
- 2If you have a multimeter: check that the signal wire to the starter relay is not shorted to voltage
- 3Check that the connectors at the starter relay and the ECM are tight and clean
- 4If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the starter relay and the signal wire
