What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has spotted a problem on the HS line that drives the starter motor through the start relay, where the voltage on the signal cable is too high. The engine may have difficulty starting, and automatic start/stop may stop working.
Possible causes
- The signal cable is short-circuited to voltage
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the starting system are intact
- 2With the ignition on, check the connectors at the start relay and the control module for loose connections and corrosion
- 3Look for chafed wiring in the signal cable to the start relay, especially where it may have touched a supply wire
- 4With the ignition on and using a multimeter, check that the signal cable has no contact with battery voltage
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault code after the repair and start the engine to see if the fault returns
- 6If the wiring is intact and the connectors are good but the fault remains: have a workshop check the start relay and the control module

- The engine starts unreliably or not at all, sometimes or all the time
- Automatic start/stop of the engine does not work while driving
- Automatic start/stop of the engine does not work at idle
