What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has registered a fault showing that the load signal calculated by the normal engine functions is lower than what the internal monitoring calculates. It can be a knock-on code caused by dirt in the throttle unit or by objects that have got into the intake passages. Those should be dealt with first.
Possible causes
- Dirt or contaminants in the throttle unit
- Foreign objects in the intake passages
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Look into the intake passages for foreign objects, and check the throttle unit for contamination. Remedy these first
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the status of the code after the repair
- 3If the fault remains: have a workshop read the control module with diagnostic equipment and decide whether it needs replacing
Symptoms you may notice4
- The maximum engine speed is too low
- The cruise control does not work at all
- Uneven idle
- The environmental lamp lights
What the fault can affect1
- Engine speed and torque are limited to a calculated reasonable value
