What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module adjusts the throttle positions in the throttle unit through what is called adaptation. The fault is set when the adaptation limits for the throttle are wrong. The fault is often caused by an interrupted adaptation, a throttle that binds or has jammed, or a damaged throttle unit.
Possible causes
- Adaptation interrupted
- The throttle plate sticks or is jammed in the throttle unit
- Damaged throttle unit
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the throttle unit connector for looseness, contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Make sure the throttle moves freely and is not jammed
- 3With the ignition on: have a workshop redo the adaptation of the throttle unit with diagnostic equipment, so that the adaptation values are updated
- 4Remedy as needed and check afterwards that the fault has cleared
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
