What does this fault code mean?
Although the fault code concerns a checksum failure, the condition is that the throttle adaptation limits in the throttle unit are wrong. The engine control module handles the throttle adaptation, and when the values do not agree the code is set. The causes are an interrupted adaptation, a throttle that binds or has jammed, or a damaged throttle unit.
Possible causes
- Adaptation interrupted
- Throttle plate stuck or jammed inside the throttle unit
- Damaged throttle unit
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check that the throttle unit connector is secure and free from looseness, contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Make sure the throttle is free and has not jammed
- 3With the ignition on: have a workshop carry out the throttle unit adaptation with diagnostic equipment to update the adaptation values
- 4Remedy as needed and check afterwards that the fault has cleared
