What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module runs a self-test of a function that shuts the engine off automatically. The fault code is set when the module detects that this shut-off function is faulty. The fault can show up as hesitation, poor performance or a warning lamp that behaves abnormally.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1With the ignition on, wait a moment and read the status of the fault code with a diagnostic tool
- 2After the test, the fault should no longer be active
- 3Check that the fuses are intact
- 4If the fault remains: have a workshop replace the engine control module
Symptoms you may notice4
- The check engine lamp lights or behaves abnormally
- The engine lacks power, especially when pulling away from standstill
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs jerkily, sometimes or all the time
- Text message and warning symbol in the display
