What does this fault code mean?
This fault code concerns the exhaust gas temperature, which the engine control module monitors, deviating too much from a calculated value on the high side. The signal then becomes too high. The cause may be a damaged temperature sensor or poor contact in the sensor connector.
Possible causes
- Damaged temperature sensor
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- The same signal fault as fault code ECM-P062B21 refers to, that is, the signal too low
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the engine control are intact
- 2With the ignition on, look at the connector at the temperature sensor for contact resistance, oxidation and looseness
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the status of the fault code after the repair and see whether it has cleared
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the exhaust temperature in live data with the engine cold and warm, and see whether the value rises smoothly
- 5Have a workshop check the temperature sensor if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
