What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module tests a function itself that shuts the engine off automatically. If that function is faulty, the fault code is set. Although the fault code is named as a safety fault in the processor, the fault can show up as the engine lacking power or hesitating, and the warning lamp may light.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Start the engine and read the fault status with a diagnostic tool
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check that the fault is no longer present when the test has finished
- 4If the fault remains: have a workshop replace the engine control module
Symptoms you may notice4
- The check engine lamp lights or behaves abnormally
- The engine lacks power
- The engine hesitates or runs jerkily during acceleration or at steady speed
- Text message and warning symbol in the display
