What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module monitors the fuel system and its components. The injectors are driven in two groups, where cylinders 1 and 4 belong to bank 1 and cylinders 2 and 3 belong to bank 2. The fault code is set when the signal to the injection valves for bank 1 is incorrect, and here the problem is a short to voltage.
Possible causes
- Open or short circuit in the wiring
- Damaged injection valves
- A fault inside the engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check that the wires to the bank 1 injectors are not short-circuited to battery voltage
- 2Look for chafed wiring to the injectors that may have touched a supply wire
- 3Check that the connectors at the injectors are free from corrosion, oxidation and looseness
- 4Have a workshop check the injectors and the engine control module if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice4
- Uneven idle
- The engine stalls at idle, particularly with the air conditioning on
- The engine stalls while driving, sometimes or all the time
- The check engine lamp lights or behaves abnormally
