What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module's output stage has detected an open circuit in the wire to an injector on the ground side. The cause may be a break in the wire or a short to ground, a damaged connector, or looseness and oxidation in the connector. The fault can cause the engine to lack power and the check engine lamp to light.
Possible causes
- Break in the wire or a short to ground
- Damaged connector
- Loose connection or oxidation in the connector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2With the ignition off, check the connector at the injector for looseness, oxidation and damage
- 3With the ignition off and using a multimeter, check that the wire to the injector has no break and no contact with ground
- 4If the fault remains: have a workshop check the connectors of the injectors and wiring with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice2
- The check engine lamp lights or behaves abnormally
- The engine lacks power while driving
