What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns bank 2, where cylinders 2 and 3 are connected. The engine control module monitors the fuel system and sets the fault code when the signal to the bank 2 injectors is wrong. Here the problem is a short to ground, which may be caused by wiring or damaged injectors.
Possible causes
- Open or short circuit in the wiring
- Damaged injection valves
- A fault inside the engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Look for chafed wiring to the bank 2 injectors and check that the control signal wires are not short-circuited to each other
- 2With the ignition off and a multimeter, check that the wires to the bank 2 injectors have no break and no contact with ground
- 3Check that the connectors at the bank 2 injectors are secure and free from contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Have a workshop measure the resistance of the injectors if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice4
- Uneven idle
- The engine stalls at idle, particularly with the air conditioning on
- The engine stalls while driving, sometimes or all the time
- The check engine lamp lights or behaves abnormally
