What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module monitors its own internal functions. The fault code is set when the control module detects an internal fault in its EEPROM memory, the memory where the control module stores data. The code may be connected with interference in communication.
Possible causes
- Communication interference
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: check whether other fault codes are stored in the engine control and trace those first
- 2With the ignition on, wait a moment and read the code's status with a diagnostic tool
- 3After the test has been carried out, check whether the fault is still active
- 4Have a workshop replace the engine control module if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine stalls while driving, sometimes or all the time
- The engine does not start, sometimes or all the time
