What does this fault code mean?

The code concerns the vehicle configuration that the engine control module (ECM) should receive from the central electronic module (CEM). It indicates that the message carrying the configuration is missing on the bus between the two modules, or that the information received is incorrect. The ECM compares the configuration from the CEM with the one it has stored, and the code is set when they are incorrect or do not match. The check starts when the ignition is switched on.

    Possible causes

    • A control module from another vehicle has been fitted
    • Faulty software
    • A fault in the central electronic module (CEM), which should be traced

    What you can do

    1. 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
    2. 2Check that the central electronic module (CEM) and the engine control module have secure connections, and look for loose or corroded connectors or chafed wiring between them
    3. 3Check whether a control module from another vehicle has been fitted, since the code is then set
    4. 4Trace faults in the central electronic module (CEM); if the connectors and wiring are intact, have a workshop check the configuration in the engine control module
