What does this fault code mean?
The ECM varies the stroke volume of the A/C compressor using a solenoid control valve, and watches the signal to the A/C system. The code is set when the module detects a fault in that signal, and the fault concerns an open circuit. At high torque output the engine control module can switch the A/C function off.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage, or damaged A/C relay; see fault code ECM-P064712
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground; see fault code ECM-P064611
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors, or open circuit in the signal cable; see fault code ECM-P064513
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the terminals, open circuit in the voltage supply cable, or damaged control valve; see fault code ECM-P064519
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact and that the connectors in the A/C system are secure
- 2Where possible, check the relevant functions in the car with the buttons, controls or a test drive to see how the A/C system behaves
- 3If you have diagnostic equipment, read the control signal to the control valve in live data while the A/C is on and see whether it follows the A/C control
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal cable to the control valve has no open circuit or short to ground or supply voltage
- 5If the cable is intact, have a workshop check the A/C relay and the control valve
Symptoms you may notice4
- The A/C system does not operate
- Irregular cooling from the A/C system
- Uneven temperature in the cabin
- Temperature control or the heater does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The air conditioning (A/C) is switched off
