What does this fault code mean?
The ECM can switch off the A/C function when torque demand is high, and it monitors the signal to the A/C unit. The code is set when a fault is found in that signal, and the circuit is drawing too much current.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or oxidation at the connections
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage, or a faulty A/C relay; see fault code ECM-P064712
- Signal wire shorted to ground; see fault code ECM-P064611
- Poor contact or oxidation at the connectors, or an open signal wire; see fault code ECM-P064513
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 2Where possible, test the relevant functions with the buttons, controls or a test drive to see whether the fault shows
- 3If you have diagnostic equipment, check the A/C relay status in live data with the engine running and the A/C switched on
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not shorted to ground or supply voltage and has no open circuit
- 5If the wiring is intact but the fault remains, have a workshop check the compressor and the A/C relay
Symptoms you may notice2
- The A/C system does not operate
- Temperature control or air conditioning fails to work
