What does this fault code mean?
The A/C relay control signal reads too high. The ECM watches that signal and also monitors the A/C system and its parts. The code is set when the module finds a signal that is too high, or when the A/C coupling relay is shorted to ground.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Faulty A/C relay
- Open circuit in the power supply
- Connections to the A/C coupling relay shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 2With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the A/C relay is not shorted to supply voltage
- 3Look for chafed wires near the A/C relay that could be shorting to ground
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, read the A/C relay control signal in live data with the A/C switched on and see whether it is too high
- 5If the wiring is intact but the fault remains, have a workshop check the A/C relay
