What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns glow plug control module 1, which the ECM uses to control the glow plugs. It is set when the signal is missing or incorrect, and it belongs to the component failures.
Possible causes
- Damaged fuse
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged glow plug control unit
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuse is intact
- 2Check the connectors at the glow plug control unit for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the glow plug control unit has no open circuit
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, activate the glowing with the tool and check that it switches on
- 5If the fuse and wiring are intact but the fault remains, have a workshop check the glow plug control unit
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine is hard to start, sometimes or all the time, and cranks slowly at start-up
- The engine is hard to start on a cold start
What the fault can affect1
- Glowing is switched off
