What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the data memory of glow plug control module 1. Certain internal signals from the module, such as the adaptations for the glow plugs, are not kept from one driving cycle to the next. The ECM controls the glow plugs through the module, and the code is set when the adaptations are not stored.
Possible causes
- The glow plugs are damaged
- Damaged glow plug control unit
What you can do
- 1Where possible, check that glowing can be activated and works, using the buttons or a tool
- 2Clear the fault code and run the car for a while to see whether it returns
- 3Check that the fuses are intact and that the connectors to the glow plug control unit are secure, free from oxidation
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, read the fault status after one driving cycle and see whether the fault comes back
- 5If the connectors are intact and the fault returns, have a workshop check the glow plugs and the glow plug control unit
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine is hard to start, sometimes or all the time, and cranks slowly at start-up
- The engine is hard to start on a cold start
What the fault can affect1
- Glow plug operation is limited
