What does this fault code mean?
The bank 2 rear oxygen sensor signals have stayed above or below the permitted range for a longer period. This event-controlled code is meant as information and does not mean the control module where it appears is faulty. It can appear after a stretch of normal driving without heavy load, and it has little value for fault-finding.
Possible causes
- Leak in the exhaust system
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Damaged wiring harness
- Damaged oxygen sensor (HO2S)
What you can do
- 1Check whether other fault codes for the oxygen sensors or the exhaust system are stored, and trace those first
- 2Look for leaks in the exhaust system, especially at joints
- 3Check the connectors to the bank 2 rear oxygen sensor for contact resistance, oxidation and chafed wires
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, compare the bank 2 rear oxygen sensor signal with the front one in live data while driving
- 5If the code returns after leaks and connectors have been checked, have a workshop check the oxygen sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
