What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns mechanical faults in the generator system, and it is set when the engine control module (ECM) receives fault information from the alternator control module (ACM) or the communication between the two is faulty. The check can be carried out with the engine running.
Possible causes
- Damaged auxiliary drive belt and belt tensioner
- Damaged freewheel
- Related fault code ECM-P065A01; trace it according to that code
- Related fault code ECM-P0A3B00; ambient temperature too high
- Related fault code ECM-P163287; open circuit in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the auxiliary drive belt and the belt tensioner for damage
- 2Have a workshop check that the alternator freewheel works
- 3Check that the fuses are intact and that the connectors in the charging system are secure
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, read the alternator's charging current in live data with the engine running
Symptoms you may notice3
- The battery is dead
- The battery has low voltage
- The charging warning light comes on or behaves abnormally
