What does this fault code mean?
The code belongs to the internal system faults of the alternator. It is set when the communication between the engine control module (ECM) and the alternator control module (ACM) is faulty, or when the ACM sends information about a fault. The check is carried out once the communication has been established.
Possible causes
- Ambient temperature too high
- Damaged generator
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, make sure the air intake and air outlet of the generator are not blocked
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment, read the alternator's charging current in live data with the engine running and see whether it looks reasonable
- 3If the airflow is good but the fault remains, have a workshop check the generator

- The battery is dead
- The battery has low voltage
