What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the circuit to the control valve in the variable intake system on bank 2. The circuit is open, so the control signal to the valve is missing. The ECM monitors the control signal to the damper.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or oxidation at the connector contacts
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the supply wire
- Open circuit in the ground wire
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Damaged damper actuator
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact and that the relevant functions of the car work, using the buttons, controls or a test drive
- 2With the ignition off, check that the connector to the control valve is secure
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal, supply and ground wires to the control valve have no open circuit, and that the signal wire is not shorted to ground
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, activate the control valve and listen for a clicking sound
- 5If the wiring is intact but the fault remains, have a workshop check the damper actuator
