What does this fault code mean?
Temperature sensor A inside the engine control module (ECM) gives a signal that is too high. The module reads the temperature through that sensor and sets the code when the signal is wrong. It then works with a calculated value rather than the sensor reading.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Once the module's test has run to completion, read the fault code status
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment, read the module's internal temperature in live data and compare how it changes while driving
- 3Clear the fault code and drive the car for a while to see whether the fault comes back
- 4If it comes back, have a workshop check or replace the engine control module
