What does this fault code mean?
The ECM watches the current at its output, which carries the control signals for the glow plug control module. The code is set when the current is too low at that output, and the fault concerns an open circuit.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal or ground wire
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose contact in the connections
- Damaged glow plug control unit
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2With the ignition off, check that the connectors to the glow plug control module are secure, with no play or oxidation
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the signal and ground wires to the glow plug control module have no open circuit
- 4Where possible, check the relevant functions of the car with the buttons, controls or a test drive
- 5If the connectors and wiring are intact but the fault remains, have a workshop check the glow plug control module
