What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the glow system, where the current in the circuit is too high. The ECM watches the glow system and what it does, and the code is set when the current measured there is too high.
Possible causes
- Signal cable shorted to supply voltage
- Ground lead shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged glow plug control unit
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the signal and ground wires to the glow plug control unit are not shorted to supply voltage
- 3Check that the connectors are secure and free from oxidation, and look for chafed wires
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, activate the glowing and see how the glow plugs respond
- 5If the wiring is intact but the fault remains, have a workshop check the glow plug control unit
