What does this fault code mean?
The control module operates the system relay and checks it after the ignition has been switched off. The fault concerns the signal wire to the relay, which may be short-circuited to ground or voltage, or the relay itself may be damaged. With the fault present, the engine does not start.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Signal wire short-circuited to voltage
- Damaged system relay
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, then try to start the engine to see whether the fault returns
- 2Check that the battery is charged and that the battery terminals are secure
- 3Check the fuses for the system relay in the owner's manual
- 4Look at the connectors and wiring to the system relay for loose contacts, corrosion and chafing
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the system relay has no contact with ground or positive, with the connectors disconnected
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the system relay and the engine control module
