What does this fault code mean?
The control module checks the system relay and has found a voltage that is too high on the signal wire to the relay while the ignition is on. The fault may be in a wire that is short-circuited to supply voltage, or in a damaged relay.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged system relay
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, then try to start the engine to see whether the fault returns
- 2Check the fuses for the system relay in the owner's manual
- 3Look at the wire to the system relay for chafing and pinch damage, where it may have touched positive
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with voltage, with the connectors disconnected
- 5Check that the contacts on the system relay are firmly connected and clean
- 6If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the system relay
Symptoms you may notice1
- Engine does not start
