What does this fault code mean?
The system relay for the power supply has released too early, that is before the expected time after the ignition was switched off. The control module then does not have time to finish its ongoing work. The fault may be a poor connection, a broken signal wire, a missing supply voltage to the relay or a damaged relay.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- No supply voltage to the system relay
- Damaged system relay
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, test-drive and check that the fault does not return after a few ignition switch-offs
- 2Check that the battery is charged and the terminals are secure, since low voltage can cause symptoms
- 3Check the fuses for the system relay supply in the owner's manual
- 4Look at the connectors to the system relay for loose contacts, oxidation and chafing
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the system relay is not open, with the connectors disconnected
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the system relay and its voltage supply
Symptoms you may notice1
- The battery may have low voltage
