What does this fault code mean?
The code indicates a mechanical fault where the system relay has stuck and does not release as it should. The sense circuit then shows a signal that is too high to the control module.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Wiring from the system relay contact short-circuited to voltage
- Damaged system relay
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, and check whether it returns after a few ignition switch-offs
- 2Listen for a click from the system relay when the ignition is switched off, and note whether it is missing
- 3Check the fuses for the system relay in the owner's manual
- 4Look at the connectors and wiring to the system relay for loose contacts, oxidation and chafing
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the wiring from the system relay contact has no contact with voltage, with the connectors disconnected
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the system relay and the wire to it
Symptoms you may notice1
- The battery may have low voltage
