What does this fault code mean?
The code indicates that the current in the electric cooling fan is too high. A blocked fan, for example a fan blade that cannot move freely, is a possible cause. Related codes for the same fan circuit are ECM-P069211, ECM-P069212 and ECM-P069213.
Possible causes
- Electric cooling fan blade is blocked
- Damaged cooling fan control module
- Loose connection, contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, and test-drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the electric cooling fan is not blocked by dirt, debris or anything preventing the blades from turning. Do this with the engine switched off
- 3Check the fuse for the electric cooling fan in the owner's manual
- 4Look at the connectors at the cooling fan control module for loose contacts, oxidation and chafing
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, read the requested fan speed in live data and check whether the fan follows it while the ignition is on
- 6If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the electric cooling fan and its control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Electric cooling fan does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Electric cooling fan is activated at a predefined speed
