What does this fault code mean?
The control module monitors the reference voltage to the sensors and has found a voltage that is too low in one of the circuits. The fault may lie in a short-circuited wire, a damaged sensor, a weak battery or the charging system.
Possible causes
- Voltage wire to the sensor short-circuited to ground
- Sensor wiring shorted to ground or to voltage
- Damaged sensor
- Battery voltage too low
- Fault in the charging system
- Damaged battery
What you can do
- 1Check that the battery is charged and that the terminals are secure and clean
- 2Read and clear the fault code, and test-drive to see whether it returns
- 3Check the fuses for the sensor supply in the owner's manual
- 4Look at the connectors and wiring to the sensors for loose contacts, corrosion and chafing
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the wiring to the sensors has no contact with ground (the body), with the connectors disconnected
- 6If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the charging system, the sensors and the control module
Symptoms you may notice4
- Deterioration in vehicle performance
- Starter motor does not turn
- Engine is difficult to start
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
