What does this fault code mean?
The control module operates the control valve (solenoid) in the A/C compressor, which changes how much the compressor pumps, and checks the signal to it. If the signal is incorrect, the control module treats this as a fault, and the code is set.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the voltage supply
- Damaged control valve (solenoid)
- Open circuit in the wire
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, and test-drive with the A/C on to see whether it returns
- 2Check the fuse for the A/C compressor in the owner's manual
- 3Look at the connectors and wire to the compressor control valve for loose contacts, oxidation and chafing
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire and the voltage supply are not open, with the connectors disconnected
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the control valve (solenoid) in the A/C compressor
