What does this fault code mean?
The control module operates the control valve (solenoid) in the A/C compressor and checks the signal to it. The code concerns a signal that is too high in the circuit, and the control module treats an incorrect signal as a fault. The fault may lie in a short-circuited wire, an interrupted voltage supply or a damaged solenoid.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Open circuit in the voltage supply
- Damaged control valve (solenoid)
- Signal wire short-circuited to voltage
What you can do
- 1Start the engine, switch on the A/C and test-drive to see whether the fault returns
- 2Read and clear the fault code before the test drive, and check whether it comes back
- 3Check the fuse for the A/C compressor in the owner's manual
- 4Look at the connectors and wiring to the compressor control valve for loose contacts, oxidation and chafing
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with voltage or ground, with the connectors disconnected
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the control valve (solenoid) in the A/C compressor
