What does this fault code mean?
The control module checks the internal circuits that supply the sensors with reference voltage. The code is set when reference voltage in a circuit reads high, low, or is missing. According to the listed cause, the fault may lie in the control module itself.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, and test-drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual
- 3Look at the connectors to the control module for loose contacts, oxidation and chafing
- 4If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the control module. If the fault is permanent the control module may need replacing, which a workshop does
Symptoms you may notice4
- Vehicle lacks power when driving
- Unusual noises when driving or at idle
- Engine does not start
- Engine is hard to start and cranks slowly
