What does this fault code mean?
The control module has registered a fault on glow plug 2. The glow plug helps the engine start when cold, so a fault makes starting harder. The code is general and does not say what type of fault it is.
Possible causes
- Short circuit in the signal wire between the glow plug relay and the glow plug
- Damaged glow plug
- Voltage from the glow control unit is too low
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code. Then start the engine cold to see whether the fault returns
- 2Check the glow system fuses in the owner's manual
- 3Look at the connector on glow plug 2 and the wire toward the glow relay for loose contacts, oxidation and chafing
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, activate glowing and check whether glow plug 2 is included in live data
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the wire to glow plug 2 has no contact with ground (the body), with the connectors disconnected
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the glow plug and the glow control unit
Symptoms you may notice3
- Engine hard to start and cranks slowly
- Problem noticed after use
- Problem noticed at cold start
What the fault can affect1
- Glowing is switched off for the damaged glow plug
