What does this fault code mean?
The control module communicates with an output stage that drives the ignition coils, and that communication is faulty. According to the listed cause, the fault lies in the control module itself. The code is general and does not say what type of fault it is.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, and check whether it comes back after the engine has been started
- 2Check the ignition fuses in the owner's manual
- 3Look at the connectors to the control module for loose contacts and oxidation
- 4If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the control module
Symptoms you may notice4
- Malfunction indicator (Check engine) light comes on or behaves abnormally
- Engine does not start
- Engine is hard to start and cranks slowly
- Engine hesitates, surges or runs roughly
