What does this fault code mean?
The module drives engine oil pressure through the oil pump actuator and monitors it electrically. The code concerns an open circuit to the actuator, and it is set when the control module detects an electrical fault on the actuator or a fault in the wire.
Possible causes
- Open circuit on the signal wire
- The oil pump is defective or worn
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, and test-drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check the fuses for the oil pump control in the owner's manual
- 3Look at the connector at the oil pump actuator and the wire for loose contacts, oxidation and chafing
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is intact between the connectors, with the connectors disconnected
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the oil pump actuator and the oil pump
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
