What does this fault code mean?
The control module regulates engine oil pressure through the oil pump actuator and monitors it electrically. The code indicates a signal that is too low in the circuit. It may come from a signal wire short-circuited to ground, or from a defective or worn oil pump.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- The oil pump is defective or worn
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, and test-drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check the fuses for the oil pump control in the owner's manual
- 3Look at the connector at the oil pump actuator and the wire for chafing and pinch damage, especially where it may have touched the body
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with ground (the body), with the connectors disconnected
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the oil pump and its control
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
