What does this fault code mean?
The code indicates a fault in the supervision software of the engine control module. It is set when the engine control module receives information about a fault in the transmission control module (TCM).
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or open circuit in the connections
- Fault in the controller area network (CAN)
- Software fault in the control module
- Look for the fault cause in the transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, and test-drive with the ignition on and while driving to see whether it returns
- 2Look at the connectors and connections between the control modules for loose contacts, oxidation and chafing
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the transmission control module (TCM) and correct them first
- 4If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the CAN network and the software in the control module
