What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module monitors the signals from the control modules it communicates with. The code is set when it receives information about a fault in the transmission control module, and the fault is electrical in nature. The counter in the messages is incorrect or not updated.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or open circuit in the connections
- Fault in the controller area network (CAN)
- Look for the fault cause in the transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and test-drive to see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the connectors at the control modules are secure and clean
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wiring between the control modules is not broken, with the connectors disconnected
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop read and correct the fault codes in the transmission control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
