What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module watches how the clutch pedal moves and where it sits, using a position sensor and a position switch. The code is set when the signal from the clutch pedal position sensor is missing or incorrect. The fault may lie in the position sensor, the position switch, the connectors or the central electronic module (CEM).
Possible causes
- Fault-trace the central electronic module (CEM)
- Pedal position sensor is not working
- On vehicles without an electric parking brake, the clutch pedal contact is faulty
- Incorrectly installed, adjusted or sticking position switch
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose contact in the connector
- Incorrect position switch
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, and test-drive with the clutch to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the clutch pedal moves freely and does not stick
- 3Look at the connectors at the clutch pedal and the position switch for loose contacts, oxidation and play
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the clutch pedal position in live data and check that the value changes when the pedal is pressed and released
- 5Check that the position switch is firmly fitted and not incorrectly installed
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the pedal position sensor and the central electronic module (CEM)
