What does this fault code mean?
The bus off fault means the control module has disconnected itself from the CAN bus after repeated communication errors. The code concerns communication between the central electronic module (CEM), which is connected to the clutch position sensor, and the engine control module (ECM). It is first set in the CEM and then in the engine control module as a knock-on fault, so the root cause is in the CEM.
Possible causes
- The root cause is in the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
- 2Read the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM) first, as the fault starts there
- 3Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment trace the fault code in the CEM and remedy the cause found there
- 4Erase the code in the engine control module only after the CEM fault code has been remedied and erased, as it cannot be erased before then
- 5After the repair, test auto-start and cruise control with the buttons and controls to confirm that they work again
Symptoms you may notice2
- Auto-start does not occur
- Cruise control does not work at all
