What does this fault code mean?
The ECM tracks the clutch pedal position sensor, whose signal reaches it over CAN from the central electronic module (CEM), and compares it with the position switch. The code indicates a mechanical fault from incorrect setting or adjustment, and the sensor signal lies outside its range or performance limits. The fault may lie in the CEM or in how the position switch is fitted and adjusted.
Possible causes
- The fault is in the central electronic module (CEM)
- Poor contact: resistance, oxidation or a loose connection in the connectors
- Position switch incorrectly fitted, misadjusted or sticking
- Position switch damaged
What you can do
- 1Read the engine control module fault codes. If any of ECM-U012088, ECM-U000188, ECM-U1A1400, ECM-U000108 or ECM-U000100 is stored, investigate it first
- 2If ECM-U010482, ECM-P193582, ECM-P080582 or ECM-U042600 is stored, investigate it first, as it most likely points to the root cause
- 3Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
- 4Check that the clutch pedal position switch is correctly fitted and correctly adjusted, and that it does not stick
- 5Check that the connectors at the position switch are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 6If you have a diagnostic tool, check in live data that the sensor value follows the pedal movement. If the fault remains, have a workshop investigate the CEM
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
