What does this fault code mean?
The value sent by the central electronic module (CEM) for the clutch pedal position is below the permitted range. The engine control module checks that the signal is reasonable and sets the code when it is not. The fault may lie in the sensor, in the signal wire or in the CEM.
Possible causes
- Damaged clutch pedal position sensor
- Signal wire shorted to earth
- Open circuit in the wire
- The fault may lie in the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read the engine control module fault codes. If any of ECM-U012088, ECM-U000188, ECM-U1A1400, ECM-U000108 or ECM-U000100 is stored, investigate it first
- 2If ECM-U010482, ECM-P193582, ECM-P080582 or ECM-U042600 is stored, investigate it first, as it most likely leads to the root cause
- 3Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire from the position sensor has no contact with earth (the body) and has no break
- 5Check that the connectors at the position sensor are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 6Have a workshop investigate the central electronic module (CEM) if the fault remains after these checks, as the code may originate there
Symptoms you may notice1
- Starting and auto-start do not work
What the fault can affect1
- The brake pedal must be depressed for auto-start
