What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) keeps watch on the clutch pedal with the position sensor and checks it against the pedal switch. The code is set when the position sensor signal, sent over CAN, lies above the permitted range for longer than allowed.
Possible causes
- Loose contact, oxidation or contact resistance in the connector
- Damaged signal wire
- Damaged clutch pedal sensor
- Damaged clutch pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
- 2Try starting, auto-start and automatic stop-start with the buttons and controls to see whether the symptoms can be reproduced
- 3Read off and note the fault code, erase it and take the car for a test drive to see whether it returns
- 4Check that the connectors at the position sensor and pedal switch are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 5Check that the wiring to the position sensor has no chafing, crush damage or loose clips, especially where the cable moves
- 6If you have a diagnostic tool, read live data for the position sensor while pressing and releasing the pedal, and check that the value follows the pedal movement
Symptoms you may notice3
- Starting and auto-start do not work
- Automatic engine stop-start does not work, both at idle and while driving
- The car may hesitate, surge or run jerkily while driving, even at constant speed
What the fault can affect1
