What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the two clutch pedal sensors, the position sensor and the position switch, and is a component fault with unexpected operation. The engine control module (ECM) compares the two signals, and the code is set when the position sensor shows the pedal as depressed while the position switch is not active.
Possible causes
- Position switch incorrectly fitted, misadjusted or sticking
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose contact in the connector
- Faulty position switch
What you can do
- 1Read the engine control module fault codes. If any of ECM-U012088, ECM-U000188, ECM-U1A1400, ECM-U000108 or ECM-U000100 is stored, investigate it first
- 2If ECM-U010482, ECM-P193582, ECM-P080582 or ECM-U042600 is stored, investigate it first, as it most likely leads to the root cause
- 3Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
- 4Check that the clutch pedal position switch is correctly fitted and correctly adjusted, and that it does not stick
- 5Check that the connectors at the position sensor and position switch are free from contact resistance, oxidation and looseness
- 6If you have a diagnostic tool, check in live data that the sensor and switch states agree as the pedal moves. If not, have a workshop investigate the CEM
Symptoms you may notice1
- A message and a warning symbol are shown in the display
