What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the output of the park/neutral gear position switch. The engine control module (ECM) uses signals from the transmission control module (TCM) to decide whether engine start is allowed, and receives them both over CAN and through a directly connected wire. The code is a knock-on fault from the TCM, and it is set when the two signals do not agree.

- The root cause is in the transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the transmission control module (TCM). This code is a knock-on fault, so the TCM fault should be remedied first
- 2Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment investigate and remedy the fault code in the TCM
- 3After the repair, run the engine at idle, keep the selector in P/N for a while and then in R/D for a while, and only then erase the fault code
- 4Try starting and auto-start with the buttons and controls to see whether they work again
- 5Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
